Recently, the "Zhanjiang Bay No.1," a pioneering aquaculture platform designed for full-ocean operations at depths of up to 1,000 to 10,000 meters, safely docked at Zhanjiang. It is scheduled to begin formal operations in November. It’s an innovative platform capable of intelligent fishery farming trials, marking a significant step in China's journey toward developing deep-sea aquaculture.

Against the backdrop of rising environmental requirements for near-shore areas, sustainable use of fishery resources, and growing ecological protection awareness, China’s offshore aquaculture spatial structure is being steadily optimized. "Zhanjiang Bay No.1" was launched under this context, being the world’s first floating aquaculture platform with dynamic positioning.

Designed by China's Zhanjiang Bay Laboratory, its innovative design concept incorporates numerous groundbreaking achievements. "This platform integrates intelligent aquaculture, multi-compartment experiments, green energy, and remote monitoring. Our ultimate goal is to create a model for refined aquaculture," said Lin Xiaojie, Project Manager of "Zhanjiang Bay No.1".

"Zhanjiang Bay No.1" has a total length of 154 meters, a molded beam of 44 meters, and a molded depth of 24.25 meters. It has a max aquaculture draft of 20 meters and an aquaculture water volume of 80,000 cubic meters. It can float and cruise in all marine areas while conducting deep-sea aquaculture and features an annual production capacity of 2,000 tons of premium fish species.

According to Zhanjiang Bay Laboratory, "Zhanjiang Bay No. 1" will be open to the public for visits from the afternoon of November 19th to the 21st (a total of two and a half days). The public can make reservations in advance through the "Zhanjiang Bay Laboratory" WeChat official account. Each visit will last about 30 minutes.
