Due to the tunnel reinforcement of Hengqin extension line of the Macao Light Rail Transit(LRT), the truck-only lane at Hengqin Port will be closed from April 1^stto 25^thto meet the needs of construction.

There are still four lanes available for cars from Hengqin to Macao, including one for both trucks and passenger vehicles. However, truck drivers are advised to choose other ports or to avoid peak travel times. The construction is also expected to incease the time for the vehicle inspection work at the port.

Connecting Hengqin and Macao, the Hengqin extension line is a cross-border LRT route and is scheduled to open in 2025. Its main structure consists of a viaduct, a 900-meter underwater tunnel and two stations.

Listed on the general plan for building a Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation zone in Hengqin issued by China’s central authorities last September, this project is a significant part of the two local governments’ efforts to boost infrastructure connectivity between Macao and Hengqin.
