Guangzhou has provided diversified and high-quality primary public education services for Hong Kong and Macao children of school age in Guangzhou, with high-quality private schools and schools and classes exclusively for Hong Kong and Macao children and foreign children.

It was announced at a press conference held by Guangzhou News Office on April 28th. This move is to support the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Guangzhou runs 14 schools exclusively for children from Hong Kong and Macao as well as foreign children, including the first school for Hong Kong and Macao children in China. Nine schools in six districts of the city set up 25 classes for Hong Kong and Macao children. More than 18000 primary and secondary school students from the two SARs and Taiwan are currently studying in Guangzhou.

Moreover, Guangzhou is exploring Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macao teacher qualification mutual recognition, and, so far, 31 teachers from Hong Kong and Macao have been qualified to teach in primary and secondary school in Guangzhou.

In terms of boosting vocational education exchanges, Guangzhou has led the establishment of platforms such as GBA Tourism Vocational Education Alliance, GBA Vocational Education Research Center, Cantonese Cuisine Development Research Institute, and Asian Cuisine Culture Education Alliance. Based on these platforms, Guangzhou, with Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, and the Taiwan district, held Skills Festivals and competitions.

In terms of cooperation on running higher education universities, Guangzhou also managed to achieve lots of progress. In September 2019, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), established by both the Guangzhou Government and HKUST, was approved to set up and start construction.

Guangzhou Medical University and Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macao signed a cooperation agreement to carry out a "2 + 2" joint training project for undergraduate nursing professionals.

At the same time, higher education schools in Guangzhou have explored mutual credit recognition with universities in Hong Kong and Macao and taken the lead in cultivating high-level talents. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance, initiated by Sun Yat-sen University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the University of Macao, has attracted 37 universities, effectively promoting higher education exchanges and cooperation in the GBA.
