Guangzhou Port has played a crucial role in developing Nansha into a fast-growing hub for trade and industry, a company official stated at a forum on November 18.

At the "New Prospects for the Ocean Economy" parallel session of the 20th China Economic Forum, Sun Bangcheng, Vice General Manager of Guangzhou Port Co., Ltd., stated that ports continue to be key gateways connecting land and sea, as well as domestic and global markets. He added that strong ports have historically helped countries expand trade and gain economic strength.

Over the past 20 years, Guangzhou Port has invested 44.1 billion yuan in the Nansha District. The district has built specialized terminals for grain, automobiles, petrochemicals, and container shipping. These facilities have also fostered the development of new industries, including cross-border e-commerce, automobile exports, and cold-chain logistics.

Nansha is now one of China's largest distribution centers for imported cherries and durians, supported by a rapidly growing cold-chain industrial cluster.

Sun mentioned that the port has not only focused on attracting cargo but has also encouraged companies to establish operations in the area. So far, nearly 100 import and export firms in sectors such as cold chain, grain, automotive, and containers have established a presence in Nansha, demonstrating the port's growing economic influence.
