Nansha district in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, plans to attract 50,000 university graduates over the next three years to boost innovation and entrepreneurship, Liu Wei, a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Party chief of Nansha, announced on August 5.

The announcement was made at a press conference held by the Information Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, highlighting achievements in enhancing Nansha's comprehensive cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao over the past three years.

As a national strategic platform, Nansha has prioritized youth development—particularly talent from Hong Kong and Macao—through its "Qing Chu Yu Nan" (青出于南, meaning young talent emerges from Nansha) program, Liu said. Backed by national and provincial support, young people now make up over 40% of Nansha's registered population. In the past year alone, the district added 110,000 new residents, including more than 70,000 young professionals.

Nansha has launched a year-round global internship program with streamlined access to benefits. Job-seeking graduates receive up to 15 nights of free accommodation and monthly living subsidies of 1,000 yuan, 2,000 yuan, or 4,000 yuan for new bachelor's, master's, and PhD holders—paid for up to 30 months. Employers also receive 1,000 yuan per hire.

The district will organize over 60 job fairs this year, offering nearly 20,000 positions to graduates from universities in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong SAR, and Macao SAR.

Nansha offers incentives of up to three million yuan for top global talent and has established multiple doctoral research platforms and four overseas talent stations in China's Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR, Japan, and Germany. Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Talent Hub is underway, with high-end international recruitment growing 55% annually over the past three years.
