Guangzhou has exported 2,818.6 tons of lychees in the first half of 2025, a 17.6% year-on-year increase.

China is the world's largest lychee producer, with Guangdong leading the nation in terms of lychee cultivation area, output, and production value.

This year, Guangdong's lychee cultivation area stands at approximately 280,000 hectares, with a production increase of around 30% compared to last year. Among them, Conghua in Guangzhou is a significant production area for late-maturing and high-quality lychees, with a planting area of nearly 20,000 hectares.

Guangzhou Conghua Hualong Fruit and Vegetable Co., Ltd. mainly cultivates a local lychee variety called Jingganghongnuo. According to the company's production manager, to further enhance picking efficiency, the company has developed a data model based on harvesting requirements and employs robotic lychee pickers. Guided by the data model, a single robot can pick 60 lychees per minute and nearly 500 kilograms per day.

Lychees picked from the orchards are transported to local processing plants within 2 hours. After undergoing processes such as branch trimming, soaking in ice water, and packaging, they are promptly loaded onto vehicles and shipped to airports or ports for export to international markets. Essentially, lychees picked in the morning can be packaged and shipped abroad in the afternoon.

According to the Guangzhou Customs authorities, customs has compressed the overall regulatory operation time throughout the entire process to help Guangdong lychees reach international markets while fresh.

Additionally, by aligning with international market access standards and product safety standards, customs guides enterprises to ensure safety, hygiene, and quality control in all aspects of production, processing, transportation, and storage well in advance.
