To celebrate the recent extension of China's visa-free transit policy—allowing international visitors up to 240 hours of visa-free stay—the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province hosted two vibrant pop-up events on December 18 and 20. The events took place at Beijing Daxing International Airport and Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, offering a dynamic showcase of Lingnan culture and a heartfelt invitation to spend the Spring Festival in Guangdong.

Passengers were treated to electrifying performances of Yingge, a traditional Lingnan dance known for its intense drumbeats and martial artistry. In a stunning display, performers dressed up as heroes from Water Margin(a Chinese novel from the Ming dynasty) wielded wooden sticks, using intricate footwork and formations to tell tales of bravery and camaraderie. The unexpected spectacle brought the unique spirit of Guangdong to life, captivating onlookers and drawing applause from travelers near and far.

The festivities didn't end with the performances. Travelers were invited to interact with the performers, snap photos, and immerse themselves in the history and artistry of Yingge dance. To further spread the charm of Guangdong, the event offered visitors cultural brochures and creative souvenirs that highlighted the province's rich heritage and diverse tourism offerings.

This year, Guangdong has brought its cultural treasures to life with over 100 pop-up events at international airports, firmly establishing the “Vibrant Guangdong, Trendy Greater Bay Area” brand.
