The Second Session of the 14th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress kicked off on January 23 in Guangzhou.

Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Province, delivered the government work report.

According to Wang, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Guangdong province amounted to 13.57 trillion yuan in 2023, making it the first province in China to surpass the 13 trillion yuan mark and maintaining its position as the top province in the country for 35 consecutive years.

On January 23, Statistics Bureau of Guangdong Province published report of Guagndong economy in 2023. 

According to the report, the added value of the primary industry reached 554.070 billion yuan in 2023, up 4.8% year-on-year. In the same year, the added value of the secondary industry exceeded 5.4 trillion yuan, registering an increase of 4.8% from the previous year. The added value of the tertiary industry surpassed 7.5 trillion yuan in 2023, an increase of 4.7% compared to the year before.

Statistics showed that Guangdong’s GDP accounted for 10.8% of the national GDP.
